Working in the American Base

By Nick | Jun 30, 2007

Last friday I had an interview in the Kelley Barracks near Stuttgart. The worst part about traveling to all the interviews that I have had in Germany is the high cost of riding the train. It cost me about 15 Euros just go about a total of 70 Kilometers in total.

At the front of the base I was greeted by two German guards dressed in Military Uniforms. However, inside, there were not many Germans to be found. The most interesting thing about the installation is how none of the buildings are like the German ones. And inside they have such things as a baseball field, a gym, and some of the larger ones even have malls inside where they sell everything from ipods to taco bell.

To me, having the possible chance to work there is a way to be able to go “America” but at the same time still live in Germany. If you want to apply for a job there, just goto www.aafes.com. Let me know what you find.
