One thing I’ve noticed since working at the American Base is the trend that almost every soldier is with a German woman. Is this a trend or a special relationship between Germans and Americans?

Perhaps people are attracted to the foreigness of people from another country. Even the former coach of the German Soccer Team moved to California for his American wife. People simply enjoy the differences that come with dating from a foreign culture. Dating someone from another culture gives you more to talk about. It is always possible to talk about what you like and don’t like about your own countries or just about your different views.

There could be a language barrier. This can be a challenge, but also interesting at the same time. Learning a language is easier when you are dating a native speaker. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes when trying to learn their language, that is the process towards learning a language better, learning from your mistakes.

People may not see it, but Germany and the USA still have a special bond to another. They are both highly involved in trade, personal relationships, and also they have special study abroad programs that interrelate. America still has army bases in Germany, but allows Germans to work in them. Even the security guards are Germans, yet they inspect vehicles and monitor people comming in and out of the gate, a way that Germany is protecting Americans.
