Constance, Lake of Constance Attractions,

By Nick | Aug 25, 2007

I recently went to the Lake of Constance and highly enjoyed my experience. Constance (Konstanz) is a small University town of about 100,000 people. The main attraction to the city here is the lake of Constance.

The Lake
On the the lake there is boating, fishing, and even sailing. When I was here I took advantage of the boat rentals. Self powered boats can be rented for 5 euros for a half hour or 8 euros for a complete hour. Since they are self powered you will have to really work your legs to get these things going. Watch out for the large boats that will come within range of your small pedal boat…

Swiss/German Border
One interesting fact is that the border between Switzerland and German touches the city of Constance. Strangely, there was no one there to monitor traffic, so I didn’t even have to get my passport stamped to cross the border.
Sleeping
We stayed at a small hostel called Don Bosco. For 20 euros per person we rented a double room with two beds. The walls here were a bit dirty, with dead bugs still smashed to the wall. Make sure you bring your own sheets when coming here otherwise you will have to pay 3.50 per set of sheets.

Use GPS to find your way easier…
