I have to thank my friend Scott for suggesting these incredibly scams that happen in Europe.
The Frog Hop: Girls ask you if you want to get a drink. You order some drinks and when you try to leave the bouncers demand an incredible sum from you. They force you to an ATM and there you have to take the money out. There isn’t much of a choice. What you need to do is make sure that you know how much every drink is costing you so that they can’t pull this scam on your.
Taxi Scams: Make sure you take an official taxi car. Many times people will tell you that they are a taxi even though they aren’t. This happened to me in Russia and I ended up paying a lot just to go a few miles.
ATM Scams: Sometimes people put sticky stuff in the ATM so that you think it got stuck or the ATM took it. However, the criminals will come back later and get your card. If your card gets stuck, immediately all and cancel it. Make sure you write down all of your important numbers!Always beware when using an ATM machine (no matter where you are). If your card gets jammed in the machine do not leave it there. A common scam is for crooks to put a sticky substance or special device over the card slot. When you put your card in, the card would get stuck. You think that the ATM machine ate your card and walk away, then the crook comes and retrieves your ATM card. Before putting your card in any ATM be on the lookout for signs that the slot has been tampered with. If your card gets stuck and you cannot get it out call the card company immediately to have it cancelled.
Pick Pocketing: People are always trying to reach in your pockets and steal your stuff. However there are some ways around this. I would recommend having two wallets. One wallet is for your small change and small bills. Use this to buy some things. I like to keep more valuable wallet on a money belt. This way if they steal your cheap wallet, they won’t walk off with too much money.
