What is SOFA?
SOFA stands for Status of Forces of Agreement. This agreement allows anyone with a connection to the armed forces in Germany, Italy or wherever the US has a foreign Army installation, to remain in that country for a certain period of time.

How Long is it Valid?
Usually the Visa is done in 6 month periods. However, the Visa can be longer or shorter depending on your situation.

How to get it?
In order to get this special Visa you have to either work for the army or be a dependent. Suppose maybe someone in your family is in the army and stationed in Europe, then you may be able to qualify for this special status. Try applying for a job with AAFES.com. Working there as a cashier or even as a gas attendent will qualify you for this special agreement.
