It can be tricky buying German food in America. It seems that not everything can be found in America that is so tasty in German. Examples include Schumpf Noodles (potato noodles) or the delectable Flammkuchen.
German Food at Aldis
Aldis is a common cheap German food store and can also be found throughout America. Fortunately they offer many German products. This week they even have German products on sale. This include Black Forest Ham, Knackwurst, pork schnitzel, egg spaetzel, and my favorite thick German bread. If you like sweets, they also have Black Forest Cake, Fruit Stollen. Just in time for Christmas they have Gluhwein and Eiswein (German Desert wine.)
Though the food is a bit more expensive than most, its comparable with the exchange rate and shopping costs.
Cooking it Yourself
It is always possible to make your own German food. View my recipe guide for some of the best German recipes for making the food yourself.
