It’s free to learn German online with Mango. If you are beginner and trying to learn German, the online software from Mango is a good way to start out.

Good for Pronunciation, not for grammar
After taking a few lessons myself, I’ve realized, the free online German course from Mango does not explain any grammar rules. Rather they attempt to prepare you for speaking conversations. Mango does provide the essentials for building up your vocabulary.

Not Recommended for Beginners
Mango seems designed to confused beginners. It doesn’t explain any German words or grammar, rather it simply attempts to have you memorize phrases instead of actually learning specific rules and words. I would recommend giving it a try, but if you find yourself confused try rather reading this post on learning German.
