Protest in Germany against Schaeuble, Berlin

By Nick | Sep 23, 2007

Being in Berlin give you the possbility to see one of the many protests that occur in Berlin, since it is the capital of Germany. Yesterday was the protest against the stealing of electronic information, that is against government having the ability to collect information by inserting a virus in citizens computers and collect personal data.

The claim is that the data would be solely used for protecting the Germans against terrorism. However, the protesters didn’t see it that way. They claimed the man responsible was Schaubler who is head of the German head of home security. Some clever sayings at the rally included Schaeuble fehlt ein Schrauber. (Schaeuble has a screw loose.)

The rally started at the Brandenburger gate with a few speeches. A parade of a few thousand walked down Unter den Linden Strasse to Alexanderplatz. A few more speeches were heard and then the crowd headed back to Brandburger gate. Things got out of hand when the black block came to cause violence. Overall things didn’t get too out of hand and the rally ended with a few speeches.

Videos from the protest:
