One of the things you might notice in Germany is that the store hours seem much less than in countries like the United States. Germany has laws regulating store hours such as when they can be open and how long.
What to Expect
All stores will almost never be open on holidays or Sundays except for tourist shops and restaurants. Plan ahead. Its a pain not having groceries on Sunday when you need them.
Grocery Stores
In bigger cities, stores are open from 8 am until 10 pm. Never expect them to be open on a Sunday.
Clothes Stores (Esprit, H and M…)
General hours are from 10 to 8 pm. Sometimes they actually have extended hours or even rarely they are open on a Sunday. During these times, expect stores to be packed.
Clubs
Big clubs in a city like Berlin open at Midnight and go the entire night long.
Gas Stations
Always open. They also sell beer, juice, and small items so you can always go here. Expect prices to be much higher.
