The summer is going quickly past so its time for a trip over to Munich and then South to Venice for the 75th anniversary of their film festival.
First stop: Munich
I am taking a train from Tuebingen to Munich for 18 euros. I bought a Bahn Card 50 to save on my travel expenses. I bought the pass for 103 euros, but every train ticket I buy that isn’t on sale is half price.
I’ll be sleeping in “The Tent” (read my post about it here). Basically this is a very large camping place located right in the Tiergarten in Munich. I’ve heard some crazy things go on here, including a lot of nude sun bathing.
Second stop: Venice
There is a nonstop train going from Munich to Venice everyday. If you buy early, there is an Italian special where one way cost only 30 euros. The train takes about 7 hours to get there.
The Venice Film Festival
This year marks the 75th anniversary. The Venice Film Festival, which first began in 1932, is a prestigious affair, with films vieing for the top prize, the Golden Lion. A total of 22 films are in the official competition for said award, which is seen as a real indicator of Oscar glory.
Already Kierra Knightley has shown up for her new film Atonement. Will I see any celebs here?
