I have just recieved notification that I have also been caught speeding from the hire company after a recent business trip.

Do points collected in Germany still go onto my licence in the UK?

I got stopped today by the polizei because my license plate expired in August. However, the registration is up to date! I showed them the registration paperwork and they still fined me for 25 Euros, on the spot. I payed it (they gave me a receipt).

They told me that I must fix the plates before the 11th of this month.

Will this be affecting my insurance? I did nothing wrong, except that my license plate tag is out of date.

Anyboy, I would like some advise on this!

By the way the polizei that gave me the fine are in Frankfurt, I live in Kitzingen. I am military.

My husband was traveling on business and got a ticket in Bremen. When I went to
Western Union they wanted a City Code. Do you know what that is in German?

“Bankleitzahl” means bank code and “Kontonummer” means account number. I guess this should be enough to transfer the money from US to Germany ? I don’t know, because I’m a German.
Also try http://dict.leo.org if you need the translation for a single word.

Wow, I have a ticket as well. I received the bank slip already, will any american bank do this? What is the German word for routing number?

I am an American working in Germany for the last 11 years. All of you who receieved tickets should also have received a bank slip with the ticket. Go to your bank and use it to transfer money to pay the ticket. The German bank and routing numbers are pre-printed on the bank slip. It’s very easy.

Although I don’t think they can touch your American license, you might have a problem if you return to other European Union countries and there is any kind of warrant, etc. With the EU, most european countries are now “connected” in a way like never before.

Do you really want to be nervous about coming to Europe because you have an outstanding ticket? Just pay, it’s easier….

Man, I have the same ticket. I had someone translate it for me. It says that my license has been suspended for one month. The question is if it applies to the US which I doubt it does (http://forum.freeadvice.com/showthread.php?t=125551). Unfortunately, it also says that I may face one year in prison and fines if I’m caught driving. It’s unclear whether the suspension is ongoing after the one month or not. I’m tempted to not pay it since I don’t have any plans to revisit Germany any time soon (last time for business). Does any one know if this suspension applies to all of the EU or just Germany? I got the same letter all in German. I found out that this was about speeding 38 km over speed limit. I do not understand German.
I called Germany and they just told me that no one speaks English. Do German traffic law have any effects in USA. Can Germany take my american license away. Can anyone give me answer?

I was traveling in Germany this June and received a speeding ticket about 6 weeks later. I ignored it and I received another one (via registered mail) about two weeks ago. The whole thing is written in Germany and I have no idea how to pay it? Do you have any suggestions? Thank you
