Toilets in Germany, German Bathrooms

By Nick | Oct 24, 2007

Have you ever really had to go to the bathroom? Well in Germany you have to usually when you want to use the toilet in a public area. Those trying who go just into McDonalds in Germany just to use a toilet will end up paying 30 cents just for a one time use.

Where you have to pay
Generally any highly trafficed public areas. This includes the train station, Fast Food Restaurants, at rest stops off the highway, in public street toilets, and even in shopping malls. It is always good to have a few coins on hand for this purpose.

Where you don’t have to pay
Fancy restaurants, your friends place (I hope you don’t have to pay!), library, universities and schools. You could also try to slip out the door when the toilet cleaner isn’t looking, or simply just not pay. They will be really pissed if you don’t pay!
