Wondering where exactly a good place to learn German is? You may not realize it but there are many places to learn German, maybe even close by.

How I learned German
I started out learning German by using a beginner’s book to German. This seemed like the best option for learning German at the time, but since then I’ve realized the fastest way to learn German is going Germany. Now this is not an option for everyone and it wasn’t an option for me at beginning either. I first enrolled in German classes at colleges and studied German there until I knew enough to study in Germany. Studying in Germany made everything go much faster than studying in the US. You become exposed to the language on a daily basis and are in a sense forced to learn the language.

Places to Learn German
The Goethe-Institut has many German courses and offers test all throughout the word. For current course offerings visit their website at www.goethe-institut.de.

1. For Courses in Germany try the Fadaf (German as a Foreign language) website. Unfortunately the site is in German so you may need to try an online translator such as babel.altavista.com. Visit the website here.

2. There are many Summer schools in Germany that teach the German languages. The website in English can be found here.

3. Learn at a local community college. Community Colleges offer affordable courses, but usually only go until the 200 level (intermediate german).
