This seems like an obvious questions, but the real question is how do you get real friends in Germany and stay away from the artificial relationships that amount to nothing more than just hi and bye. So where do people even go to meet Germans in Germany, the kind that we want to have as our friends. I’m sure this article could be applied to any other country.
Language exchange, friend exchange
Do you want to improve your German? Why not participate in a language exchange? What I do is, put up an ad in a highly trafficked area like a university cafeteria that says “Native English Speaker seeks German Speaker for Language Exchange”. Leave your email, number of whatever and wait. Usually someone will contact you within a week. You can easily use this to improve your German and maybe develop a friendship.
Join a Sports Club
There are plenty of Gym, sports clubs, and organizations for joining a team, even if you aren’t that good, there are plenty of clubs to join.
