So what happens when you don’t live in Germany anymore and search for a job? I’ve discovered there are many things to overcome.
1. They want you to come in for a personal interview.
Do you want to spend $500 in round trip airfare to personally go to an interview in Germany? Much of the time, they won’t offer to pay for this unless you are very qualified. I would recommend trying to set up at least 3 interviews in Germany before flying out there .
2. In Germany education means more than Experience
It seems that in Germany, even if you have many years of experience in a certain job field, it would be more beneficial to have higher education. I currently have a Bachelor Degree, though that only seems to help so much.
3. Know German, Fluently, Enough to Translate
In Germany it seems, your best possibility for a job is to be certified as a translator. If you can translate, then you have a wide variety of options. This trend is the same with teaching. If you can teach English, you can get a job in Germany.
