Since returning to Germany, I’ve had to think lately about the benefits of living in Germany. Though each country does have its own benefits, here are a few I’ve noticed after being in Germany.
1.Time Zone=As a writer, it means I can write posts on the internet at noon, yet in the U.S. I’m getting all my work done at 6 a.m.
2.Food=Food prices here are very competitive. Even with the increase in milk prices and exchange rate, I still can find cheap food here.
3.Size of Europe=Though many in Europe think its a big place, you can still get from A to B in no time at all. Just go to the United States and you’ll be driving for days.
4.Transportation=There is almost no need for a car here. Just hop on the train and get from A to B. This means not having to pay for insurance or a car.
5.Clothing=Though clothes tend to be expensive, most of the clothes brands are high quality and for the price you pay for the design, it is relatively cheaper than you’d pay anywhere else for designer clothes.
What would you consider to be a benefit of Germany?

As an American living in Germany for the best part of the last 12 years, i find the quality of life here wonderful. There is so much more of an emphasis on sustainment rather than growth at all costs (although urban sprawl is evident in the bedroom communities of larger cities and more and more families have at least one car). The idea of shops closing for lunch, early on Saturday, and all day Sunday gives family life a higher priority than work. It seems here people work to live, whereas in the US people live to work. (Again this is a gross exageration, but it’s been my general experience.) The kids in Germany are allowed to be kids longer as well. You don’t see nearly as many elementary aged girls dressed like hoochie mamas here as in US schools.
