So you’ve heard that driving on the Autobahn is fast without speed limit. You might have imagined this most perfect road running through Germany. However, there are a few rules and things to keep in ind before driving on the Autobahn.
Rules to keep in mind while driving on the Autobahn
If you have a breakdown or accident, you must move over to the shoulder and place a warning triangle about 200 meters before the accident
You don’t need to pay any tolls on the Autobahn (thats all done in France).
If you run out gas, you technically broke the law. This is seen as preventable and an unneeded stop.
Speed Limits
Speed limits do exist while driving on the Autobahn. Though usually the Autobahn is a highway without a speed limit, construction zones, rain, and long turns may place a speed limit on the Autobahn.
Rain: When it’s running you’ll generally have to slow down to 120 km/hr while driving on the Autobahn. Thus, driving when it’s raining can really slow down your travels.
Construction Zones: Expect speeds of around 60 km/hr during construction on the Autobahn.
