Get ready to go shopping in Germany!  Here are a few shopping tips for the best shopping in Germany.

Bottles
Keep in mind that most drink bottles have deposit on them. Plastic bottles including cola and water is usually $0.25 and beer bottle are usually about $.08. Even cola cans have at least $0.08 deposit. Just remember to save the bottles and just bring them back to the store where you bought them.

Shopping Carts
It’s rare to find a shopping cart in Germany that doesn’t require a coin for its use. Shops like Aldis and Rewe will require a one euro coin in order for you to use their carts.

Bags
Bring your own shopping bag or you’ll have to buy a bag. Small bags usually 5 cents and large 9 cents.

Shopping Hours
Grocery stores are usually open from 8 until 20:00 (22:00 in larger cities). Clothing stores are open usually from 10 until 19:00 in smaller cities, 21:00 in larger cities.

*Though these tips aren’t always 100% exact, they are generally the norm in Germany. There are always of course exceptions.
