W&V (German Industry Ad-Marketing magazine) and The Financial Times Deutschland ran a creative advertising contest to whoever could create the best advertisement for promoting Germany.

The main goal was to Germany into a clean meaning one that would let everyone know that Germany, yes, is a clean country, even despite it’s corporate corruption, tax scandals and everything else. Yes, Germany is clean?!

The winning campaign asks “Warum sehen wir Deutschland immer Schwarz?” Literally, why do we always see German as Black? Another ad campaign chose “Wir sind Sauber”.

Is advertising enough to change the unclean image of Germany?
