The question I receive most often is… Do I need a work permit for Germany? The answer to whether you need a work permit for Germany is not often easy to answer, but here at the basic guidelines for who needs a work permit in Germany.
Work Permits
If you are a citizen of the EU, liechtentein, or Switzerland, then you are treated just like a German, you don’t need a work permit for Germany or even a residence perit. But, you must register your stay.
Those living outside this area…
You need a work permit! Often the process poses problems and it’s a slow process… There are no jobs where you won’t need a work permit. Even dishwashing requires a work permit. If you go to Germany to study, you can most likely work part time, but for many, this even still is not enough to support their stay in Germany.
It seems that getting the ability to work in the European Union is becoming even more lucarative than in the USA. Is it time for the USA to join forces with Canada and Australia? I’d like to see it happen, though I doubt it will…
