Since benzine (gas) is so high in Germany, getting a moped in Germany for riding can be a really cheap and practical option for getting around in Germany.  Some of the practical benefits of riding a moped in Germany include:

1.  Cheap Moped Insurance: The price for insurance for a Moped can be as low as 100 euros a year. (Try Allianz)

2.  Get around almost anywhere: A moped can go where a car can not.  Consider that most of the roads in Germany are tiny anyway, so riding a moped is an easy option to get from point A to B, fast.

3. Moped are cheap: Usually around 1000 euros will afford you a pretty decent moped.  Plus they get up to 100 mpg so even the benzine costs won’t be quite so high.
