How to Use a Phone in Germany

By admin | Apr 9, 2008

So you’re in Germany need to use a phone… Sounds easy, and it is, but there are a few things to keep in mind so you don’t make the phone mistakes I’ve made…

Dial 0 then the number… not the 49 first!  (I’ve had interesting conversations this way)

When calling…
Tell the receiving party exactly who’s calling.  The person on the other end wants to know who is calling them, they don’t want to have to guess.

When receiving a call…
Always say hello and then your name or at least your last name.  The use of names is important. also so that they caller is clear where they are calling.
