I’d just like to point out a few issues I’ve noticed regarding discrimination in job interviews in Germany.  Though these aren’t major issues, they may be grounds to legally discriminate against you.

Germany Online Applications
Did you ever notice that you have to submit a picture of yourself with your interview?  A picture tells a thousand words.  Not only does this allow employers to see your age, but also your race, sex, weight, and another factors that they can use to discriminate against you before even meeting you.  Though true, that if they are going to discriminate against you, at least they do it with your application before they end up doing it to you when they meet you.

Scientology
Want to be part of Scientology?  Well don’t live in Germany if you want to be associated with Scientology.  Many Germans in Germany argue that Scientology is just a business and not really a religion, that it just exploits its insecure members.

Personally, I’ve been asked in job interviews in Germany whether I am a member of Scientology.  While personally I don’t believe that question should have to be answered (even though I am not a member), the sad case is, employers do ask this question and may discriminate against it.

Sure Germany wants to tax Scientology seperate from a religion which sounds fine considering the nature of Scientology, but to discriminate against it’s member for joining seems a bit too far.
