I do not agree with above comment at all... so far...
My wife is German, i am a muslim arab (lebanese), i have been to the states when i was younger, even before the whole 9/11 incident, and i did get many bad experiences, and truth be told, some good ppl along the way, but all in all, americans do have this snobbish "u come to my country, u need it, i am a local so i am much better than u" thing, and its really annoying where it would make u feel pushed down all along the way...
My wife, who is German originally, accepted out culture, her parents came to visit us in Lebanon, and they accepted it and were even going further more into it...I am moving next month to Germany, hoping to find a good life there with my wife, but from what she told me, and from what i saw from her parents and all... i really hope i will write another comment in the long run saying that they are nice people....

yeah!!! I love this article. You are tooo correct. More than correct. I too have lived in Germany for a year and boy "does-It- SUCK!" You've joked using this comment, "I’ve often joked with a friend that Germans are built by BMW, soft exteriors on the outside, cold and hard as stone on the inside" but i will be serious in saying it. These folks are as cemented as the 12th Century cobblestones and mortar used to build streets and castles and dungeons. the green scene is super but the dark cold hearts of the volks is sad and depressing!
Another great comment, "As long as people continue to care about each other, regardless of race or nationality, life will be good, but as soon as you start seeing yourself as a superior person with the inability to care or forgive, that you will in a terrible world." Germans do not see it that way. As soon as they meet you you need to market by answering, "what is your career, where are you from, how old are you and why are you here, how many languages do you speak, how many levels of study have you done!" and if these answers don't raise you to their superior standards then you are no longer seen fit to talk to as you have no "education or sense."
I am yet to meet a good German but I have met lots of nice Romanians with that loving warm American spirit, and also some other folks from other countries who share a lovingness, but Germans...sorry N-O!
