I could make a long discussion about Socialism in Germany, which of course many Germans believe in and believe that it will someday work and make their country, but previous historic figures had their doubts.
Winston Churchill said “Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”
He also said “The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.”
Or my favorite “Socialism proposes no adequate substitute for the motive of enlightened selfishness that to-day is at the basis of all human labor and effort, enterprise and new activity.”
Who’s right?
Of course we all like to agree about what’s right and wrong and often we agree with what we’ve grown up. Since German tends to lead toward socialism many in Germany would tend to agree that socialism could work, while us Americans tend to have many democratic ideals.
