Why Gas is So Expensive in Europe and Germany

By admin | Jun 15, 2008

Amazed at how much gas cost in Europe, especially Germany? Revenues from Europe’s high gas taxes (about 60 percent) are used to fund a variety of things like education.

The price per gallon for gas in German is around $7.86 per gallon. But consider that the average German car gets over 30 mpg compared to the United States getting only 20 miles per gallon.  So even though gas pries in Germany are so expensive, they’ve learned to adapt by buying better cars and using more public transportation.
