Germany is one european country with a negative growth in population size. Each year the population of Germany continues to decrease slightly.
The Germany population estimate for July 2007 was germany population 82,369,548 which is a July 2008 estimate. This estimate is slightly less than the population of Germany one year before. The main problem is the fact that the death rate is higher than the increase in population (the birth rate). There are 8.18 births/1,000 population, but 10.8 deaths/1,000 population. That means a slow but steady population decrease per year.
The Germany population is also aging much faster than the current birth rate, meaning in the future there will be more jobs, but many more retirees, prompting probably more than luckily more guest workers needed to be invited in order for the older people to still socially benefit.
