Microwaves in Germany, Who Owns a Microwave in Germany?

By admin | Oct 19, 2008

One thing I’ve noticed in Germany is that no one owns a microwave! For US citizens this is a bit strange since everyone in the US has one, while so many Germans don’t.  Especially when it comes to student living, it seems as if people believe in using the stove.  As a frequent visitor of Germany, I’ve become used to the idea of not having, though I’m sure microwave is another factor of the fact that people in the United States are eating more frozen food than here in Germany.

So when you come to Germany, be prepared to not use a microwave and cook the old fashioned way, using a stove.
