Since I’ve moved in and out of plenty of German Apartments I wanted to offer a few tips to better help you with the transition of your apartment.
Takes lots of picture of your German Apartment
When it comes to your room looking exactly the way it did, you need to make sure the walls are white, the carpets are clean, and the shades are not broken. If any of those things are not in the exact same shape, they will try to charge you for it. Taking pictures makes sure you have something to prove. If that stain came in the carpet, take a picture.
Get everything in writing, make sure your apartment lease is signed and dated
Imagine you might have to go to court about your apartment someday, maybe to fight to get your lease back. You want to make sure you’ve got everything signed and dated and basically proven that you did pay the rent and that yes you did pay a desposit.
Worst Case?
See lawyer. If you can’t work out a dispute or are having real legal problems with your German apartment, make sure you go to a lawyer. The can help advice you in the best course of action.
