It is Happy New Years Around the World and time to wish those in Germany Happy New Years in German!

To say Happy New Years in Germany simply say: Einen guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr! (A good start in the new year) or  Alles Gute zum neuen Jahr! (Best wishes for the new year!)

Berlin holds New Years celebrations at the Brandenberg Gate.  This is attended by over a million people.  Other German cities will shoot off fireworks or Germans themselves often buy a large amount of fireworks and shoot them out in the street.
