German Apartment Discovered 20 Years Later

By admin | Jan 27, 2009

An old German apartment was discovered nearly 20 years after it was abandoned, just shortly before the fall of the wall.  Now the German Apartment is a perfect example of life before the wall fell.  Inside this old dusty German apartment they found “Vita” brand cola, food packaging, as well as 20 year old bread rolls.  Even the Calendar reads August 1988.

Will this ancient apartment be preserved for a look into pre-wall life?  Unfortunately not.  It will be remodeled and eventually rented out.

The previous owner is most likely one of those that fled after the GDR fell apart.

“Everything points to a hurried departure,” Architect Mark Aretz told the paper. “Apparently the inhabitants absconded during the commotion when the Wall came down.”
