Cheapest Train Travel Options in Germany

By admin | Nov 12, 2009

Taking the train in Germany can be rather expensive.  In fact last minute trains in Germany are not the cheapest at all.  There are however train options for the weekend that I have found to be the cheapest.  The schoenewochende ticket (beautiful weekend) allows train travel in Germany for 35 euros for up to 5 people on one pass.  You can take any train except the ICE.  This means slow transport, but if you are with 5 people it would be fun enough.

Keep in mind if you buy a ticket for Saturday, you will also need to buy one more of these if you want to travel on Sunday too.

When you get to the train station just ask about their special schoenewochende ticket and this could be your best deal for traveling cheap on the weekend.
