People are getting a nostalgia for products from East Germany over 10 years after the wall has fallen. Suddenly people find themselves looking for products from the old East Germany that are no longer produced. Such East Germany products include trabant cars and beauty products.
According to Times of Malta: They are calling this craze “ostalgia” – a mix of nostalgia and “ost”.
Other such relics include the East Germany traffic signal for walking known as the ampleman. However some East German products such as Spreewald gherkins and Rotkaeppchen sparkling wine still exist and have been successful East German products introduced in the west.
