Germany Kasseler | German Ham

By admin | Jan 29, 2010

Not all German foods made it succesfully over to the US and this includes one of Germany’s best, Kasseler.  Sure we’ve got lots of German food like Bratwurst and Liverwurst, but what about Kasseler?  Let’s start off just finding out what German Kasseler ham is.

This type of German ham is a salt-cured pork loin or pork chop which is smoked with beech wood or alder. This kind of ham often works perfectly with kale and cabbage recipes, or just in the same American ham fashion.
