Most Bike Friendly City in Germany | Berlin

By admin | Jan 4, 2010

There are many cities in Germany that are perfect for riding bikes since, Germany has so many bike paths. In fact city officials pledged to work toward bikes comprising

15% of the city’s traffic by the year 2010. The city already has 80 kilometers of bike lanes in the wide streets and 50 kilometers of lanes on sidewalks.

In fact Berlin is so bike friendly that 400,000 riders each day account for 12% of total street traffic. That is a lot of traffic and a lot of bike riders. Be sure to bring a bike if you visit Berlin, or at least rent one since there are many shops to rent them from.

Even a tour company called Fat Tire Bike tours offers bike tours, yes on bikes, where you actually have to ride a bike through the tour. This goes to show just how easy getting around Berlin can be.
