By admin | Jan 22, 2010

If you didn’t know Kaiserschmarren is an Austrian pancake.  This pancake is really sweet and often served at midday.  You’ll find this kind of pancake in both Bavaria and Austria.  They often say that this originated as an original dessert made for Emperor Franz Joseph I. Usually you serve it with fruit or applesauce.  Overall this makes an easy light meal.

Kaiserschmarren is easy to make with the right recipe.  Recipes we’ve found for making a Kaiserschmarren include:
6 eggs
200 grams cake or pastry flour
50 grams sugar
250 milliliters milk
pinch of salt
20 grams or raisins

butter
powdered sugar
plum or apple puree

Make sure to separate the egg whites from yolk. Mix in the yolks / sugar / milk /flour together.
Dash of salt added to the whites. Beat them until they are stiff.
Add stiff egg whites to the dough.
Melt butter in a large pan. Then pour in the dough, and add in some raisins. Let them cook on one side for a few minutes, turn over and tear into pieces with a fork.

Sprinkle sugar on top.
