Can Americans Drive a Car in Germany?

By admin | Feb 5, 2010

Americans can in fact drive a car in Germany as long as it’s no longer than 6 months. This means that yes you can rent a car in Germany, you can probably drive someone else’s car, that is as long as you have a drivers licence back in the United States. However don’t think that because you are in another country you don’t have to pay any parking tickets / etc that you receive in Germany.

Yes there is no speed limit when you drive a car on Germany’s Autobahn as long as the speed is not marked. When it’s raining there will be a speed limit usually about 110 kilometers.

If you want to drive more than 6 months in Germany, consider getting something called an international drivers licence.
